More than 48.7 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home, an increase of about 1 million (+1.9%) over 2015, according to new data from AAA and hotel data provider STR.It's also anticipated those Turkey Day travelers will open their wallets.Luxury hotels saw the highest occupancy on Thanksgiving last year among the STR chain scales (62.8%), with economy hotels reporting occupancy at just 48.2%.
